A ceramic chiminea on an 18-inch heat-resistant stand, burning wood or charcoal, with a cooking grate included.
Ceramic holds and radiates heat differently from a steel chiminea: it warms up more slowly and keeps giving off heat after the fire dies down. It also won't rust. The tradeoff is that ceramic is breakable, so it needs a stable surface and care in handling, and it should not be moved while hot.
The chimney directs heat and smoke upward and away from anyone sitting nearby. If someone in the household is smoke-sensitive, this shape is the reason to choose a chiminea over an open fire pit.
The semi-enclosed firebox has a wide front opening for loading wood or charcoal, positioned so the fire is visible from a seated position. An open bowl gives you a better view but no smoke control; this is the compromise between the two.
A grill grate is included, so it works for burgers and hot dogs over the open flame rather than only as a heat source.
An 18-inch heat-resistant stand is included, lifting the firebox to viewing height and keeping heat off the deck or patio surface.
