Lighting extends every water feature and landscaped space into the evening, when a lit fountain, pond, or path often looks more dramatic than it does in daylight. Pond and fountain lights sit in or near moving water, aimed to catch falls, bubblers, and spillways. Path and landscape lights mark walkways, beds, and architectural features from ground level. Lighting accessories cover the transformers and wiring that most of these run on, since almost none of this equipment plugs directly into a standard household outlet.
Most fixtures here run on low voltage, so plan the transformer first. Add up the wattage of everything you intend to run and buy a transformer with headroom for at least one more fixture, since expanding a lighting run later usually costs less than replacing an undersized transformer now.
