A round steel lid does two jobs on a wood-burning fire pit. It keeps rain, snow and leaves out of the bowl, and it turns the pit into a flat table for drinks and snacks when you're not burning. The G GOOD GAIN 30-inch lid is cut from thick-gauge carbon steel with a rust-resistant coating, and a wooden handle in the center gives you a comfortable grip for lifting it on and off.
Measure across the outside of your pit's rim and make sure the lid overlaps it on every side. Let the fire burn out and the pit cool before covering. Carbon steel holds up well with a coating, but stainless lids like the Breeo or 1MORE are the better choice if your pit sits in a wet or coastal spot.
