Why 45-mil EPDM

EPDM stretches, which is what lets a liner conform to an irregular excavation without seaming or folding badly at corners. At 45 mil it resists puncture from rock and gravel while staying flexible enough to install by hand. Thinner PVC liners cost less but crack with age and don't tolerate being stretched into contours.

Sizing

Measure length plus twice the depth, and width plus twice the depth, then add roughly 2 feet in each direction for overlap at the edges. An 8 by 10 sheet is suited to a small pond or a pondless reservoir. Larger sheets are available at 10' x 25' (250 sq ft) and 20' x 15' (300 sq ft).
