Kit versus light only

The transformer is what makes this a standalone purchase. The light-only version (84008) is cheaper but requires a 12V low-voltage transformer you already own or buy separately. If this is your first low-voltage fixture, buy this kit. If you're adding to an existing run with spare transformer capacity, buy the light on its own.

Output

The 2.5-watt LED diode gives brightness comparable to a 10-watt halogen while drawing a fraction of the power and producing minimal heat. Low heat output matters for a fixture sitting inside a small fountain basin.
